Agenda of Telecom 2005: Liberalisation of Turkish Telecom Market and privatisation of Turk Telecom

Istanbul, Turkey (PRWEB) January 10, 2005 -- The three important processes for the Turkish telecom market are the following:

-   With the liberalization on January 1st, 2004, a state-owned company, Turk Telekoms monopole ended. Many telecom companies received their licenses from Telecommunications Authority (established by law in 2000) and they are expecting the market to settle down in 2005, heading for a tough competition. -   The block sell off of 55 percent of the shares of the Turkish Telecom will be completed by May 2004, according to Transport Minister Binali Yildirim. Turk Telecom has 19 mln subscribers and about 61,000 employees. Many telcos including the International giants like Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica SA, Telecom Italia SpA, Belgacom NV and Suudi Oger requested a copy of the Turkish government's tender documents issued in advance of the planned sale.
