Magnetic Jewelry Company Attracts Attention: BodyLinx Business Booms In Response to Recent Medical Study on Arthritis Pain

A recent report published in the British Medical Journal concludes that wearing magnetic bracelets can significantly reduce the pain of arthritis. BodyLinx, a "budget-friendly" line of versatile magnetic jewelry, is poised to help the one in three American adults suffering from some form of the disease.

(PRWEB) January 13, 2005 -- Tom Frosts business card refers to him as a Magnetic Conductor" and his product, BodyLinx magnetic jewelry, is attracting a lot of attention.

Shying away from referring to his jewelrys therapeutic benefits-he touts BodyLinx as a fun and attractive jewelry item"-Frost is among those intrigued by the results of a recent study on magnetic bracelets and arthritis pain.

A December report in the British Medical Journal described a study in which arthritis patients were randomly assigned to wear a standard-strength magnetic bracelet, a weak magnetic bracelet or a bracelet with nonmagnetic steel washers.

After 12 weeks, those who wore the full-strength magnetic bracelets had significant improvement of knee and hip pain. The conclusion? Magnetic bracelets provided relief comparable to that from standard arthritis pain medications.

With Celebrex recently called into question as a treatment for arthritis, the study is good news to the over 70 million Americans suffering from the disease. Arthritis affects one in three adults in this country, and over half of those feel that there is nothing that can be done to ease their pain.

Frost, the CEO of Beaverton, Oregon-based Swell Products, has been distributing his magnetic bracelets in over 300 retail/gift shops across the country.

We have never wanted to make any claims about BodyLinx being therapeutic, and we have never had to. The satisfied customers rave about it for us," says Frost. Unlike many higher-priced bracelets using embedded magnetic disks, BodyLinx jewelry is comprised of very powerful individual magnets and sells for $14.95 and up. The companys bracelets have been featured in several catalogs, including Norm Thompsons Solutions, Pacific Spirit, and Flax Art and Design.

The bracelets are attractive and theyre a lot of fun to play with. Thats why we started this business," says Frost, who teamed up with Andre Jehan, founder of the 36-store Pizza Schmizza chain, to launch the business in late 2003. If they help people feel better, thats just the icing on the cake."
