"The Motown Story" 2005 World Tour, Back by Popular Demand

The Highly Acclaimed "Motown Story" 2005 Tour is making a stop at Julia Morgan Center for the Arts in Berkeley, CA, for one weekend only in April. The 35-member cast will continue the tour with performances in Columbus, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in July, to Chicago, and returning back to Oakland, California in November to complete the second world tour.

Back by popular demand, The most requested production is on its way back to the West Coast for One weekend only. Bay Area Grann D. Production in conjunction with C-Town Performing Arts of Cleveland, Ohio is bringing "The Motown Story" back to Berkeley, California.

The highly acclaimed Motown Story 2005 world tour is making a stop at The Julia Morgan Center in April. They will continue with shows in Columbus Ohio, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Chicago and returning to California in November to complete the second world tour. In November 2002, The Motown Story premiered at Black Repertory Theatre, Berkeley, California with all five shows sold out. The cast had barely left the stage when the audience asked, when will the Motown Story return to California". The dynamic performance and mixture of music first broke a record in Cleveland, 1997 when the show premiered "selling out all performances during the four weekend run."

The Motown Story is considered one of the most requested plays in Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area, and Southern California (Los Angeles). The limited engagement starts with dramatic scenes of Ray Singleton's (June Alexander) stormy marriage to Berry Gordy, in between the show is blended with madness, drama, and surprises. Sometimes as humorous as it is brash, the show introduces the audience to unforgettable scenes of Cleveland actors, Joseph Moore (David Ruffin), Juanita Mckim (Diana Ross), James Hakim (Smokey Robinson), Patrice Wilson (Claudette) Harold Spinks (Paul Williams) and Dawn Thompson (Florence Ballard). The actors captures unforgettable details including an entertainment scene of flawless acts, intertwined with songs and music of Christine Joy (Martha Reeves), Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and other famous artists of the Detroit "Motown" sound. Oakland's O'Town Passions, singing and recording group will perform hits of the Temptations and original songs. The rich cast of lead roles from Cleveland's C-Town Performing Arts, and supporting roles of extraordinary Bay Area cast, directed by Mary Ann Tidwell Broussard form an unforgettable ensemble. Playwright, George Sledge, director and founder of C-Town Performing Arts in Cleveland, Ohio wrote The Motown Story" through the eyes of Ray Singleton after years of research.
