Americans Head to Europe for Healthcare Savings

Uninsured or under-insured Americans who travel to western Europe for medical treatment can often save 40% to 80% over comparable healthcare in the states. European Medical Tourist is a U.S. service which arranges quality, affordable treatment with experienced English-speaking physicians in Europe.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 25, 2005 -- After self-employed Georgia travel agent Ann Lombardi heard the $7,000 out-of-pocket price tag for the cataract surgery she needed, she sought the advice of a physician friend in Germany. Ten days later Lombardi was back home following a successful operation by a well-known Frankfurt eye surgeon. Total cost for her procedure? About $1,200.

Ann Lombardi and long-time corporate businessman Tim Vicknair have co-founded European Medical Tourist, a service which arranges affordable medical care in western Europe for self-insured or uninsured Americans. E.M.T. sets up consultations with English-speaking physicians and a host of medical procedures, from bypass surgery to knee replacements and cosmetic surgery, at select hospitals in Europe. "As a business-woman needing to lower my own medical expenses, I think this service is long overdue," says Ms. Lombardi. Vicknair agrees. "There are more than 45 million uninsured Americans and countless others who are under-insured. Why should they be burdened by the high cost of self-pay medical treatment in the U.S.A. when patients can save from 40 to 80% for quality care in Europe?"
