6FootMedias website is unique in its use of web technology and database integration -- uncommon for an online portfolio.
Originating Country Detection -- Every visitor to the website has a unique identifier called an IP address. 6FootMedia developed software which analyzes each IP address and determines the country from which the visitor is connected to the internet. This is available by comparing ranges of IP addresses reserved for specific countries with the IP for the particular visitor. This information is used to customize certain content and welcome announcements. It is also used in tracking usage of the website.
Proxy Detection -- Some users connect to the internet using a proxy server which may mask the original IP address of the visitor and assist in hiding their identity. 6FootMedias software detects when a visitor is connected from a proxy server and annotates the visitor record.
The Power of CSS -- 6FootMedias website relies entirely upon Cascading Stylesheet (CSS) technology. This technology is gaining increased attention as it facilitates complete separation between content and layout of internet web pages. Complex web graphic layouts that were previously only possible using complex HTML code, can be accomplished now with external CSS files. This allows major layout changes without touching the original HTML or server side scripts.
