Girls Against Crime - A New After School Club Forms to Raise Funds and Awareness

When four fifth grade friends; Breea, Whitnee, Kianna and Jordan, decided they wanted to start a new club, they didnt mean they wanted to talk about boys or the latest style of clothing. They wanted to make a difference and they knew Breeas story.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2005 -- When four fifth grade friends; Breea, Whitnee, Kianna and Jordan, decided they wanted to start a new club, they didnt mean they wanted to talk about boys or the latest style of clothing. They wanted to make a difference and they knew Breeas story.

When Breea was only seven she was kidnapped and held hostage for nearly fourteen hours, strapped with explosives, forced into a closet bound and gagged and ripped away for her mother. Breea was interviewed recently at her school for her story to possibly be in an upcoming issue of Chicken Soup for the Soul series. So the girls had an idea!

We wanted to do something really positive so we asked if we could raise money for The VOW Foundation and also tell other kids to say no to violent crime." Says Jordan. Whitnee adds, If we can just tell kids that have been hurt by crime to stay strong and do something for them that might help that would make me feel really good and them too."

The Breea Scholarship Fund takes financial contributions and donates proceeds annually to selected youth or families whose lives have been greatly impacted by violent crime. The focus of GAC is to raise funds for this program specifically, raise awareness about youth crime victims and be the award presenters at the annual event. Their motto: Help Rebuild a Life Today!

Their first fundraising event will be on February 5, 2005, a rummage sale to take place in the Cardiff/Encinitas area. These young dynamic leaders need our support. You can send donations directly to or find out more information about Girls Against Crime by visiting The VOW Foundation website. Go to the Just For Kids page.
