David A. Katzman, CPA/ CFP®/PFS Earns Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) Designation

Goldstein Lewin & Co. Shareholder Helps the Elderly and Their Long-Distance Caretakers

Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) January 28, 2005 -- David A. Katzman, CPA, CFP®, PFS, of Goldstein Lewin & Co., Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, has completed a rigorous program and passed a three-hour comprehensive examination to earn the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) credential.

Mr. Katzman joins an elite group of approximately 17,000 professionals in 50 states who have received this designation. The CSA certification requires mastery of an interdisciplinary curriculum that includes modules such as age-related physiological and psychological changes, social aspects of aging, Alzheimers and dementia, chronic illness in seniors, financial and estate planning, end-of-life planning, senior spirituality, tax planning, senior housing, long-term care, and resources for seniors.

The elderly here originally came to Florida from places such as New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago as young retirees to have fun in the sun. Now, many of them are alone, far from family, and unable to manage some of the most important activities of daily life," Mr. Katzman explains.

Mr. Katzman adds, I pursued this certification because I view myself as an advocate for the elderly, helping them to preserve their assets, enhance their quality of life, and protect their health and safety. I also act as the eyes and ears of their long-distance caretakers — Baby Boomers who have jobs and children and who live too far away to visit frequently."

A survey conducted by the National Council on Aging and The Pew Charitable Trusts found that there were nearly 7 million long-distance caregivers in 1997, a number predicted to grow to over 14 million by 2012. According to Miles Away: The MetLife Study of Long-Distance Caregiving (July 2004), 36% of the respondents missed days of work to provide care.

Licensed to practice in the State of Florida and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Mr. Katzman provides eldercare services, tax and accounting services for businesses and individuals, and financial and estate planning for high net-worth individuals. He appeared on WPEC-TV and WFLX-TV in Palm Beach County, Florida, local access cable television in Miami, and a South Florida radio program to discuss eldercare issues.

After graduating from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, he worked for both a large regional accounting firm and a prestigious national firm.

He is a Trustee of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce and is active in the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and the Rotary Club of Boca Raton.

Goldstein Lewin is listed in Florida Trend Magazine as one of the 25 largest accounting firms in the state of Florida. It offers a comprehensive range of accounting and business consulting services including corporate governance issues, cost segregation studies, eldercare management, accounting and auditing including SEC compliance; tax services; technology consulting; wealth preservation and estate planning; business valuation; financial planning, employee benefits programs and litigation consulting. The company was recently nominated for the Best Places to Work in Florida contest.
