CardSmart, Pitney Bowes & TV's Aisha Tyler Give Commuters Fred Valentine Cards at Grand Central Station Feb. 7th, Says CardSmart's Petter Etholm

CardSmart Retail President Petter Etholm says the franchised card and gift stores are sending a Valentine to America at NYC Grand Central Station event Feb. 7th, at an event with Pitney Bowes and TV star Aisha Tyler.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 30, 2005 -- CardSmart is sending a Valentine to America at the worlds most famous railroad commuter location, Grand Central Station, with event partner Pitney Bowes on February 7th, when commuters will get free handmade Valentines cards to mail with free postage to friends and loved ones.

CardSmart, the national franchisor and marketer of everyday half-price greeting cards, is joining with mailing technology solution leader Pitney Bowes to provide beautiful hand-made Valentine cards for commuters visiting Pitney Bowes kiosks that will dot massive Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Station.

The second annual event at Grand Central Station again matches event partners CardSmart Retail and Pitney Bowes, the worlds leading provider of integrated mail and document management systems, services and solutions.

Petter Etholm, President of CardSmart Retail Corporation, said, As part of our ‘CardSmart Cares Program, a portion of proceeds from our Valentine card sales across America, and from cash counter canister contributions, will be donated to help victims of the recent devastating Tsunami.

CardSmart, listed in Entrepreneur Magazines Franchise 500" and one of its Top 10 New Franchises, is a franchisor and marketer of everyday half-price greeting cards, offering customers top quality cards and gifts at value pricing in beautiful shopping environments.

Etholm said, During this time when we have much to be thankful for, we should remember loved ones on Valentine's Day, February 14th."

Highlighting the event, TV star Aisha Tyler, star of the hit TV show 24," and members of the Romance Writers Association will be on hand to help commuters compose just the right sentiment for their loved ones. She and the professional romance writers will offer tips on writing a meaningful, thoughtful and unique last minute Valentines Day card for the special people in their lives.

He noted, Valentine's Day has a prominent place in greeting card history. After Christmas, its the second biggest card giving day, as more than one billion cards are exchanged in America. Valentine sentiments gained favor as far back as the in the Middle Ages, when lovers also spoke or sang sentiments. Commercially printed cards gained popularity in the 1800s."

Pitney Bowes said that, Of the respondents in the Pitney Bowes Valentines Survey who said theyd rather send a valentine than deliver it in person, 82 percent prefer to send their Valentines Day greetings by mail, as opposed to 18 percent who use email. When asked how they would like to receive greetings, 86 percent said they prefer mail versus 14 percent who said an email would suffice.

The survey also shows that most people purchase their cards one week prior to Valentines Day (60%), as opposed to the day before (15%) or the day of (5%). One reason for this may be to ensure sufficient time for mailing and delivery."
