"Bowl Buster" Toilet Stickers Are the Latest Innovation in the Battle Over the Toilet Seat

A Colorado entrepreneur has launched a line of humorous stickers that encourage men to put down the toilet seat and watch their aim. Called "Bowl Busters," the colorful, 3-D "puffy" stickers can be used anywhere in the bathroom where their message might be seen.

"Who left the seat up?" With that battle cry, the struggle over the toilet seat has been raging since…well, probably since John Crapper popularized the flush toilet in the 1800s. Nor is there a truce in sight -- a Google search on "toilet seat up" generates 3.5 million hits, including countless posts in the divorce forums.

But entrepreneur David Baron is entering the fray with a new tactic--humor. He has launched a line of humorous 3-D "puffy" stickers intended to gently, but firmly, remind the culprits to put down the seat when they are done.

"The concept is a bit like refrigerator magnets, only for your toilet," Baron says. Named "Bowl Busters," the stickers are designed to be placed on the toilet itself—typically under the lid or under the seat—though they work as well on walls and mirrors since they are easily repositioned or removed.

"The stickers really cover two issues—putting the seat down and what you might call 'accuracy'," Baron explains. "The goal is to be funny, but also to get the point across." He says that the two most popular ones are "Putting the seat down means never having to say you're sorry" and one that is scaled like an eye chart that reads "If you can read this you are missing the bowl." But several others in the line of 24 stickers also sell well, he says, because they are a little more pointed.

Made from a sturdy, laminated plastic, the stickers are about 3-inches in size and most of them feature a color illustration to help reinforce their message.

He said that men and women both seem to appreciate the humor in the stickers, but that his customers are mostly women.

"For most women this topic is like the weather -- there's plenty to complain about but not much you can actually do to change it. At least with 'Bowl Busters' everybody has something to laugh about and maybe -- just maybe -- some of us (males) might get the picture."

Bowl Busters are available from Baron's Just For the Fun of It Enterprises, through its website at http://www.just4funofit.com The cost $3 apiece, or $2.50 apiece in quantities of four or more.
