Author Erik Jensen Pens Fantasy Adventure Novel 'Orphan Mage' From Prison

Chicago Spectrum Press announces the publication of Erik Jensen's Orphan Mage. The 24-year old Jensen wrote the book in a Colorado prison, where he is serving a life sentence without parole after being convicted of first-degree murder for an incident that occurred when he was 17 years of age.

The 24-year old Jensen wrote the book in a Colorado prison, where he is serving a life sentence without parole after being convicted of first degree murder for an incident that occurred when he was 17 years of age.

Accompanied by a group of outcasts, young Danken Sariksen journeys through exotic locales populated by magical races in his quest to bring the god back to Midgarthe and overcome the forces of darkness and the evil Sorceror bent on seeing Chaos reign supreme.

Jensen's novel is the first book in a trilogy, and calls to mind the writing of masters of the genre such as Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, and Raymond Feist. In "Orphan Mage," Jensen has created a fantastic and dangerous world populated with unforgettable characters.

Jensen's own world finds him in the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility in Crowley, Colorado. But unlike other prisoners for whom a life sentence is often a kind of death sentence, Jensen has vowed to make positive use of his time behind bars, writing fiction and reaching out to teens through his Next Day Foundation and its website, www.teensintrouble.org.
