Phoenix-Area Photographer Supports Charitable Cause and Gives Children Around the World a Reason to Smile
As a member of Professional Photographers of America, Chandler-based photographer Marnie McCown-Guard is participating in Family Portrait Month. Throughout the month of October, a portion of her portrait proceeds will be donated to Operation Smile, charitable partner of PPA. Together with other participating photographers across the country, McCown-Guard will make it possible for the dedicated medical volunteers of Operation Smile to continue their life-changing work around the world.
(PRWEB) October 1, 2005 -- During October Chandler-based photographer Marnie McCown-Guard, owner of ProfilePix Freelance Photography is joining together with participating photographers from around the country and the Professional Photographers of America Charities in promoting Family Portrait Month." This national fund-raising effort will benefit Operation Smile, which treats children who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
As a participating photographer, Marnie McCown-Guard has pledged a portion of each family portrait sale in October to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner. According to McCown-Guard, October is a great time for families to have their portraits made. The weather in Arizona is cooler and the holiday season is just around the corner. Whether you update the portraits of your children or gather the entire extended family together, few gifts are appreciated as much as portraits. When Arizona families participate in Family Portrait Month with me they make it possible to truly change the lives of children around the world who would otherwise face a lifetime of pain and social rejection."
Each year Operation Smile (an organization of thousands of volunteer surgeons, dentists, and specialized health-care professionals) performs surgeries on as many needy children as their funding permits. Because of the medical volunteers, it costs only $240 to perform a typical operation. More than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity each year in Operation Smiles 23 mission countries.
McCown-Guard adds, I believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way and my greatest joy as a photographer is bringing that out in my portrait clients. People dont realize how much joy a smile can bring and through the charitable support of Operation Smile, we are giving that gift to children everywhere."
