PicksPal Members Hit the Celebrity Big Time - PicksPal Lets Sports Fanatics Wage Their Pride and Egos, Not Their Money

PicksPal.com members see that long shots pay off big.

(PRWEB) October 1, 2005 -- Some PicksPal members have gain site-wide notoriety by taking super long shots on seemingly impossible odds. Just last week, three members by the names of Longshot (aptly named), IRON-MAIDEN, and Narwhale bet all their points on the 20:1 odds that the Louisiana State University vs Tennessee game would go into overtime. Their risk paid off at 21,000 points apiece, and they were mentioned on “The Picking Order” (the site’s home page Blog) for being the only three out of thousands of members to pick that correctly.

Said Narwhale of his bold prediction: “I'm an all-or-nothing guy and when I saw that prop at 20:1, I hit it with both hands.” An admitted Tennessee fan, he added "The Vols never give up and also had a couple of OT games last year. But I never thought they would be down 21 points. When I saw that, I pretty much gave up and couldn't believe it later that night when I hit the long shot."

Later in the week Narwhale went for another long shot on the Fresno game and lost all his points, to which he replied "You wouldn't believe the smack we were talking to all the guys trying to figure out how we pulled it off. It was kind of cool to be a celebrity, even for a day." Longshot and IRON-MAIDEN are still building on their big win, while Narwhale is forced to wait until next week to get back at it. The loss didn’t hurt him that much though, as he put it: “It ain’t over 'til the Narwhale blows.”

PicksPal.com, a free online sports pick game, lets sports pickers put their pride on the line, not their money. Instead of putting a sum of money on each game, PicksPal members risk points to obtain the ultimate prize for sports fanatics: bragging rights.

To make the experience as real as Vegas, PicksPal uses real Vegas odds and real game results. The only “fantasy” part about it is the points substituting in place of money, while everything else is as real as it gets: with spreads, money lines, over/under, and props on most games. PicksPal also lets members pick from all major sporting events such as Pro Football, College Football, Baseball, Boxing, and more. In essence, it’s the “rush of Vegas without the risk.”

With thousands of members and several ways of keeping track of friends and rivals, the interactive aspect of PicksPal provides a fun-factor lacking from the seriousness of Vegas. PicksPal lets members create their own leagues or challenge each other in 1-on-1 face-offs, all the while providing a forum for trash-talking through private messages or public “Smack Boards,” where everybody can get in on the action. In addition, each PicksPal user has his/her own home page, with a profile and even a Blog they can use to shower themselves with praises, or explain their mishaps to critics.
