"Treasure Chest" program ensures paychecks for casino employees affected by Hurricane Katrina.

JobFlash's role as Treasure Chest Casino's automated recruiter didn't end when the Kenner, La. riverboat was shut down by Hurricane Katrina. But it certainly changed. Working in tandem with Boyd Gaming Corp., JobFlash established a dedicated website that is enabling Treasure Chest’s 1,031 employees to transfer to any of Boyd’s 18 U.S. properties.

The endeavor, "Treasure Chest Employees Only," is part of Boyd Gaming's "Hurricane Katrina Relief" program, established to help employees with information regarding their paychecks, overnight accommodations and redeployment from the New Orleans-area riverboat (which suffered only minor damage, but has temporarily suspended operations).

Boyd Gaming established a similar support program for the 1,065 employees of Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel in Vinton., La. after that property was subsequently battered by Hurricane Rita. Boyd has two other regional properties – Sam's Town Hotel and Casino in Shreveport and Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Tunica, Miss.

"When Boyd Gaming became a client two years ago, they made it very clear that we were helping them recruit a family, not just employees," said JobFlash CEO Mike Krueger. "We’re humbled to be part of their comprehensive assistance effort. Boyd Gaming has redefined the term 'Human Resources.' "

"We want to make sure we do everything we can to help our employees in that region," said Boyd Gaming Chairman and CEO Bill Boyd. "Right now we are still focused on the recovery effort and making sure that our employees are able to receive their paychecks and reach out for medical assistance in the areas where they may have relocated."
