Self Breast Exam Reminders on Cell Phone
EggAlert, a text messaging service alerting women to their fertile days and menstrual periods, now offers new reminders of when to do monthly self breast exams to screen for breast cancer.
(PRWEB) October 3, 2005 -- EggAlert, a text messaging service developed by PDAHealthWare, Inc., that allows users to receive text messages on their cell phone of when they are likely to be fertile and also of their upcoming menstrual period, is offering a new feature that includes reminders to do self breast exams.
Every year there will be 200,000 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in the United States. A variety of screen methods are recommended to catch breast cancer in its early stages, and fortunately 80% of breast cancer is caught in it's early stages. Although there is debate about the effectiveness of the various screening methods including mammograms, ultrasound, and self breast exams, most physicians agree that self breast exams increase a women's awareness of any abnormalities that may be present and bring it to their doctor's attention.
Dr. Dave', founder of PDAHealthWare, Inc., "The majority of EggAlert subscribers are women, and therefore it was a natural feature to add a self breast exam reminder to the EggAlert service. If we could help catch just one breast cancer early, it would be worthwhile."
EggAlert is a subscription based service. Users enter information regarding their menstrual cycle, and start receiving text messages. The self breast exam reminder is a part of their EggAlert text messages and there is no additional fee.
Women can subscribe to EggAlert by going to www.eggalert.com.
