Musician's Hurricane Katrina Fund Raising Tour
Update 1--Independent musicians continue to raise funds for Red Cross, Little Stuff Fund, Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity.
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) October 4, 2005 -- What started out as a series of web postings on Tribe.net's Music Tour Network website http://musictour.tribe.net has turned into an unprecedented union of grassroots support for the survivors of the devastating hurricanes. Over 30 independent musicians along with venues and event organizers across America have teamed up to organize a music tour to benefit hurricane relief. And the tour continues to grow.
The grassroots team is now formally organized under the banner of the Music Tour Network (www.MusicTourNetwork.com). Proceeds from the shows will go to charities including the American Red Cross, Little Stuff Fund, Humane Society, and Habitat for Humanity.
Tom Libertiny, founding member of the Music Tour Network says, "It's really amazing how fast we were able to put this tour together, thanks to the musicians, venue owners, and promoters. It's a great example of grassroots folks giving back to people in need and really shows the power of the web to get things done quickly on a large scale."
"Many of us have either lived in the areas struck by the hurricane or have family and friends who presently live there. Saving lives and giving people a hand up who are in need is what this tour is all about.
"The first step is to raise as much money as we can so that the victims' short-term needs will be met: Water, food, medicine, clothing and shelter."
The tour has played through the East Coast (New York, New Jersey) and West Cost (California) and is headed for a series of shows in the Midwest:
October 8, Michigan, Redford, @Bull Frog
October 14, Illinois, Chicago, @Sizzle on Broadway

October 15, Michigan, Brooklyn, @Old Town
