Pro-European ProgCons Detail the Case for the Withdrawal of Europe From the EU

The UKs Progressive Centre-Right Conservative Party, the pro-European ProgCons, today called on its European neighbours to step back from the EU project to prevent further erosion of European freedoms and diversity by the centralisation project of the EU.

(PRWEB) October 5, 2005 -- The UKs Progressive Centre-Right Conservative Party, the pro-European ProgCons, today called on its European neighbours to step back from the EU project to prevent further erosion of European freedoms and diversity by the centralisation project of the EU.

With the collapse of the European Constitution, the ProgCons have expressed serious concern that European citizens are being drawn into a false sense of security by the major political parties. ProgCon is worried that fellow Europeans are being led to believe that European centralisation has been placed on hold, when in reality, the steps towards a single European state continue without the ratified Constitution.

"The core 'mother nation ProgCon value promotes our aim to live our lives free of unnecessary governmental interference whilst accepting that we do sometimes need that safety net to catch us in times of trouble." said Chad Noble, founder of the UKs Progressive Centre-Right Conservative Party.

"Geographically, historically and culturally, we are European. With thousands of years of invasions and migration, we share the same blood, meaning that we really are family, and close family at that. We cannot opt out of Europe, because we are as much Europe as any of the other countries that form our continent and people. To deny that we are European is to deny our own history and bravery in preserving European values and freedom.

We are proud to be British and proud to be European. The simple ability of people so similar, yet so diverse to work independently as a cohesive unit, to operate as their own separate entities whilst embracing their collective strength is a model for civilisation and a healthy society.

Unfortunately, Europe, our continent of many flags is being strangled by a centralisation project known as the EU that in real terms is a vehicle for politicians to seek to enhance their power on the world stage."

The ProgCons stressed that Europe does not need the EU for Europe to work together and that the EU is overly expensive financial drain that is actually hampering European growth. Highlighting the constant EU attempts to find one-size fits all policies and rules to apply to all European countries, the ProgCons accused the EU of crushing the very freedoms and diversity that makes Europe unique.

The ProgCons pro-European call for withdrawal from the EU has introduced a challenging new dimension to EU attitudes, with the ProgCons becoming the first centre-ground political party to detail the need to rebuild European relationships outside of the centralised EU organisation. By driving the call to withdrawal from the centre-ground, the ProgCons have become the first party to seriously present a pro-European case for the withdrawal from the EU project.

"The EU is not Europe. Pro-Europe can only mean anti-EU as Europes values are not those of a 20th century single authoritarian nanny-state." Noble continued. If someone suggested a single centralised government for Asia, Africa or the whole of South America, you would consider them mad or power-crazed, and yet that is exactly what the EU project is doing to Europe. Our Eastern European neighbours, who spent so long fighting to break free from the authoritarian centralised government of the Soviet Union, are now faced with a new and similar threat. Europe will be strong and will work together without the burden of the EU."

As part of their evidence of the way the EU is damaging Europe, the ProgCons highlighted the latest economic report from the World Economic forum which has published the worldwide business competitiveness figures for 2005. The report clearly details the slide of all the major EU member states in contrast to the rise of non-EU European countries.

This slide in global competitiveness was not the aim of joining the EU." Noble said. The very fact that what was intended to be a trade agreement has regressed into a mass of bureaucracy and is now actually damaging the wealth of Europe exposes the misleading statements the pro-EU parties have made.

The EU project has gone wrong. Now is the time for European countries to close it down and start from scratch with a firm commitment to work together on trade, security and environmental issues. There is nothing pro-European about the EU, it is simply an expensive step-up for politicians who wish to operate on a global stage. The only pro-European approach is to leave the EU and rebuild the ties that really matter with our European neighbours."
