THOUSAND OAKS, CA (PRWEB) October 5, 2005 -- For nine days this October, Neftin Westlake Volvo will call on people in the local community to visit their facilities and test drive a Volvo car. For every test drive taken, the dealership will donate $10 on the driver's behalf to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand, a national pediatric cancer research charity that raises funds through lemonade stands. Neftin Westlake Volvo will also make a matching donation for each test drive of $10 to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. The dealership will run test drives 10:00 am -- 7:00 pm, October 8th through October 19 at Neftin Westlake Volvo, 3550 Auto Mall Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Neftin Westlake Volvo is joining forces with Volvo dealers nationwide for Volvo for Life Days" which continues Volvos tradition of Test Drives for Charity, started in 2004 at its first fundraising event on Columbus Day weekend. Last year, visitors to Volvo Retailers across the country took part in a nationwide effort to raise thousands of dollars for local charities through Test Drives and Lemonade Stand donations -- and helped make Volvo for Life Award Winner Alexandra Scotts dream of raising $1 million to fund the battle against childhood cancer come true.

Alexs Lemonade Stand was founded by Alexandra Scott, a young cancer patient from Philadelphia who gained national attention for her efforts to raise money for pediatric cancer by holding annual lemonade stands. Sadly, Scott passed away Aug. 1, 2004, at age eight, and her family continues her mission in her honor through Alexs Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered non-profit. The mission of the organization is to raise money for childhood cancer and to encourage and educate others to raise money for childhood cancer.

Each year more than 14,000 kids are diagnosed with some form of cancer, but research into treatment for cancer in kids is limited," said Howie Neftin, Neftin Westlake Volvo President. I hope the local community will join us in supporting this worthwhile cause."
