FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) October 10, 2005 -- Femmefan.com, the web's fastest growing site for women who are avid sports fans, scored again with The Los Angeles Dodgers and their "Women in Baseball" career networking breakfast.

The seminar, presented by Femmefan as part of the Los Angeles Dodgers Women's Initiative & Network (WIN) was attended by approximately 100 women, eager to learn more about career opportunities in sports, an opportunity to network and meet other female fans. The breakfast featured a panel of sucessful women in the sports industry who took questions from the audience and discussed their backgrounds and career paths. They were candid about the "good old boy" mentality they had faced but were evidence of changes afoot in the industry.

The discussion was moderated by Fox Sports Net reporter Lindsay Soto and included team President Jamie McCourt, assistant general manager Kim Ng, chief financial officer Cris Hurley, assistant director of player development Luchy Guerra and Jean Hastings Ardell, author of the book Breaking into Baseball: Women and the National Pastime.

The WIN program is the "brainchild" of Dodgers President Jamie McCourt, the highest ranking female executive in baseball. WIN's objective is to offer women access to baseball through special events such as the breakfast, baseball clinics and forums involving Dodger players, coaches and staff.

"Femmefan.com has stated that the female fan is a largely ignored demographic. We intend to change that. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Jamie McCourt understand the power of this market and we are thrilled to be a part of the WIN program," said Ivette Ricco, president and CEO of Femmefan.com.

"My hope and expectation is that others in the sports industry will follow the Dodgers lead and establish programs for their female fans," she said. "The WIN program opens the door to female fans and events such as this one are long overdue."

About Femmefan.com

Femmefan.com, the #1 website for women who are avid sports fans recently partnered with Ricky’s Sports Bar, http://www.Rickys.com, ranked by Sports Illustrated as the #2 Sports Bar in the nation to hold the first female fan appreciation event, “Real Women Love Sports Night”.

"Female sports fans represent an untapped market that the sports industry should be targeting," Ricco continues. “According to national studies 50 million women avidly follow sports. They represent enormous purchasing power and their active lifestyles offer advertisers and sports teams alike numerous opportunities to reach them through a variety of marketing, advertising and promotional opportunities", Ricco stated from her California home.

"Yet, the sports industry and the media has largely ignored these fans”, Ricco continued. Ricco notes that, “the NFL draws the largest number of these fans, but these women are also following MLB, the NBA, NHL, PGA, NASCAR and all other sports”.

http://www.Femmefan.com has created its own niche for women who are sports “junkies” by providing a different perspective on sports. Femmefan.com is the fastest growing site of its kind on the web.
