New International Special Events Society (ISES)- Metro-Detroit Chapter inducts Board Of Directors
The newly formed Metro Detroit Chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES) inducted its inaugural board of directors for 2005-2006. The ceremony took place at Seldom Blues restaurant and was conducted by ISES Regional Vice President, Kelly Early of Indianapolis.

The ceremony took place at Seldom Blues restaurant and was conducted by ISES Regional Vice President, Kelly Early of Indianapolis.

The newly inducted board strives to uphold the mission and integrity of ISES to its members and the regional event planning industry. By hosting monthly meetings at various venues throughout the area, the chapter focuses on the organization’s commitment to professional development, networking and certification.
In addition to reduced local meeting fees, ISES members receive benefits including discounts at Pier1, Kinko’s and DHL; a worldwide network of professional resources; discounted fees to ISES sponsored events; and the opportunity to gain Certified Special Events Planner (CSEP) designation. The ISES Metro Detroit chapter was co-founded by Christine Olszewski and Kate Walski who gathered a team of local event professionals in Fall 2003 to form the Chapter Formation Committee. In May 2004 the group held their first membership drive and in January 2005 had the required 35 members to obtain their probationary status. With 47 current members, the Metro Detroit Chapter currently has a 71 percent member retention rate. The chapter expects to gain its national charter in January 2006.
ISES was founded in 1987 with a mission to educate, advance and promote the special events industry and its network of professionals along with related industries. With almost 4,000 active members in 38 chapters throughout the world, ISES membership brings together professionals from a variety of special events disciplines including caterers, meeting planners, decorators, event planners, audio-visual technicians, party and convention coordinators, educators, journalists, hotel sales managers and many more professional disciplines.
