Hand.Tooth.Nail, a dynamic new journal of words and art is now available. This new electronic journal features poetry, prose, fiction and visual art that is edgy, raw, biting and dark by established and emerging writers and visual artists.

The premier issue of Hand.Tooth.Nail, released in October 2005, features many new and established poets, fiction writers, painters, photographers and mixed media artists.

Benard Dewley, Managing Editor of Hand.Tooth.Nail, says, "Our mission statement states that 'we particularly relish work that displays raw emotion and doesn’t mind exploring new territories.' For me, that captures what we have done with our first issue- presenting new and emerging writers and artists, without regard for form so much as quality, work that is unique and sometimes hard, occasionally uncomfortable, perhaps even unsettling, but work that is good and grounded in a greater truth. Though the work you will find in Hand.Tooth.Nail is generally dark and certainly biting in tone, it is, for us, a testament to truth, honesty and hope."

In the current issue, the following writers and artists are featured:

Poetry: Korrie Everett, Chad Helder, Shawna Mahoney, Gala Mukomolova, Crawdad Nelson and Jennifer Poteet

Fiction: Kal Cobalt, Catalina Diaz and Kevin W. Reardon

Visual Artists: Erik Lopez, Amanda Olbrys and BRASS

Future issues will include creative non-fiction, a "Letters" section and may also include contests and themed issues.

Hand.Tooth.Nail is currently accepting submissions for their upcoming second and third issues. Submission guidelines are available on the Hand.Tooth.Nail website.
