Dr. Steve Hushek Joins IMRIS

IMRIS provides surgical imaging systems for the intra-operative MRI marketplace. Several of these systems are currently used in the neurosurgical applications for cranial and cervical spine procedures.

Winnipeg, MB (PRWEB) October 8, 2005 -- David Graves, President and CEO of IMRIS Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stephen Hushek as Vice President, Technology.

“We are extremely proud to have Dr. Hushek as a part of our team at IMRIS” said Mr. Graves. “Steve brings extensive experience in intra-operative MRI technology and understands the needs and challenges of the clinical surgical environment. His experience will be a tremendous benefit to our future product development and ultimately surgeons and their patients”.

Steve received his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, based on his thesis work on intra-operative MRI imaging. He then joined GE Medical Systems for 5 years, first as a systems engineer within the IntraOperative MRI program, and then as its Lead Systems Engineer. For the last 5 years Steve has applied this technology as Technical Director of the iMRI Department at Norton Hospital, Louisville. Dr. Hushek has over 50 publications, and has 5 patents in the areas of MRI imaging and flouroscopy.

“I am very excited about intra-operative applications of MR imaging, and I am pleased to be able to join IMRIS at this stage in the evolution of this field. The IMRIS solution‘s unique system will enhance MR imaging in the operating room and should provide improved patient outcomes” said Steve. Steve will be based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and will contribute to IMRIS and its customers and partners through his detailed and extensive knowledge of MRI imaging and clinical technologies.

IMRIS Inc., which has offices in Dallas, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and Winnipeg, designs and manufactures Surgical Imaging Systems for use in Neurological, Spinal and Soft Tissue procedures.
