AdTools today announced its Vail SnowMate 2.0 branded desktop application has been selected as a finalist in the Travel category for The 10th Annual MITX Awards. Produced by the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange, the MITX Awards recognize excellence in the creation of interactive technologies designed, produced or developed in New England.
Begun in 1996, the MITX Awards have grown to the largest and most prestigious awards competition in the country for technology innovations and celebrates the best creative and technological accomplishments emerging from New England.

Vail SnowMate 2.0 is a downloadable desktop application redesigned for the 2005 season based on analysis or usage information from version 1.0. The Vail SnowMate desktop application is designed to increase sales of ski vacation packages for Vail, Breckingridge, Beaver Creek, Heavenly and Keystone resorts.
The application features updating snow and weather conditions from weather feeds and includes the graphic presentation of snow conditions: snow piles up on the user’s computer desktop and the animated character’s actions change. Special offers are presented to the user with page content managed via web-based publishing system. An animated screenmate snowboard or skier character is included, and a live mountain web-cam images presented directly within the application
“AdTools and Vail Resorts have been able to substantially enhance the Vail SnowMate as a result of having analyzed usage data over the two years the application has been running,” said AdTools president Chris Heitmann. “We’ve been able to see what users responded to and upgrade those features, and as a result we have seen substantial gains in the amount of time and the number of interactions the user has spent with this branded desktop application.”
AdTools will be recognized with the other finalists in the category of Travel at a gala awards ceremony traditionally attended by over 800 of the region’s top interactive technology and business professionals.
