Developing Conditor's Pervasive Mobile Game Solutions

A Young Entrepreneur's Journey to the Virtual World

(PRWEB) October 9, 2005 -- Nicholas Tommarello, President and Founder of Conditor, a leader in developing pervasive mobile games, has always had one passion: utilizing mobile technology to increase our knowledge of the people and culture that comprise our surrounding environments.

According to the recent Babson College MBA alum, “I began searching for an experience that could replicate the community-building aspects of the Internet in the real world. I found it ironic that those of the ‘Internet Generation’ could so easily make new friendships and tight bonds with others across the globe, but no such technology existed to facilitate social interactions with the stranger sitting next to you on the subway.”

During his MBA program, Tommarello was accepted into Babson College’s exclusive entrepreneurial intensity track, where he had the opportunity to explore his ideas in close collaboration with professors who offered feedback and guidance on the business opportunities. After extensive research into the mobile technology industry, including attending conferences, reading sociology and technology texts, studying European and Asian precedents, and interviewing industry insiders, Tommarello decided that the pervasive mobile gaming industry was the most lucrative channel to bring his passion to life. Conditor was launched soon after in January of 2004.

Pervasive gaming merges the player’s real surroundings with an imaginary virtual world. For instance, as players move through a city, their mobile phones track changes in their circumstance, so that the experience is influenced by the player’s location, action, and individual will. Along the way, participants interact with nearby people and learn more about their surroundings. As Tommarello lamented, “How come when I’m next to Google, I can find out everything I need to know about The Great Wall of China, but I can’t access any information about the building sitting right in front of me when I’m walking down the street?”

Conditor today is a business of nine employees, including Ian Guthrie, a senior software engineer at AOL for many years and now responsible for developing the technical aspects of new products. Most recently introduced is Covert Actions, a corporate training solution that allows companies to interact in a fun, action packed environment while enhancing team building and employee bonding.

Currently, Conditor is planning on introducing Sleuth in the Boston market in spring of 2006. Sleuth is a mobile game solution that will help navigate and explore the city of Boston while completing missions provided in each game. A fun-packed outdoor activity for families and friends traveling to Boston, Sleuth will be an alternative to classic city tours and guides, such as the Old Town Trolley and the Duck Tours.
