Prayer on Purpose: Learning the Joy of Bible-Centered Intercessory Prayer! By Steve Durkac, a Baptist Chaplain, is Changing the Way Christians Pray

Steve Durkac, a Mobile, Alabama hospital chaplain, has put his message of intercessory prayer with purpose into print and now hopes to carry it out to the pews for personal and corporate church revival!

Mobile, AL (PRWEB) October 9, 2005 – Exchanging the classroom of seminary for the pastoral pulpit of his first church, was an eye-opening experience for Steve Durkac.

“I mistakenly expected to find a congregation of parishioners who were hungering to break out their Bible commentaries and Hebrew dictionaries while I lead them into an understanding of the deep theological perplexities of Scripture” said Steve, humorously. “However, after one-on-one visiting and church-wide surveys, I found that my congregations greatest need was simply to learn to pray.”

Steve changed his planned church calendar and developed a series of sermons and studies to inspire and instruct his parishioners in the practice of prayer. The results were astounding. Steve says, “It was a small church, but their internal challenges were great. After this emphasis on prayer, I saw personal problems resolved, infighting ceased, and the church went forward in focused evangelism.”

The message of his book, “Prayer on Purpose: Learning the Joy of Bible-Centered Intercessory Prayer!” is the same message that Steve has taken to churches across denominational lines, since the mid-1980’s, through revival crusades, equipping seminars, and sermons. The book is written for those seeking a more meaningful, joyful, and effective prayer life. It leads the reader through the practice of the principles of praise, petition, promises, and power and the discovery of claiming God's Bible promises.

Steve Durkac is a former pastor who joined the Baptist church in 2000 after resigning his pastorate and affiliation of 18 years with the Seventh-day Adventist denomination in 1999.

Today, Steve serves as a part-time chaplain on the pastoral care staff of Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama and is a popular speaker on pastoral care issues (grief, bereavement, tragedy, coping, dying, etc.) and the topic of prayer and spiritual renewal.

Steve is available, without cost, to speak to any group, ministry, or church within the greater Mobile, Alabama area. His website, www.prayeronpurpose.com, offers seminar information, a free Prayer on Purpose e-power subscription, and promotional offers for active church pastors to receive a free copy of “Prayer on Purpose: Learning the Joy of Bible-Centered Intercessory Prayer!”

“Prayer on Purpose: Learning the Joy of Bible-Centered Intercessory Prayer!” is available at www.prayeronpurpose.com, on Amazon.com, or through your local bookstore.
