Dallas, TX (PRWEB) October 7, 2005 -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) today announced it will increase its daily flight schedule to New Orleans with the addition of two new flights starting on Oct. 17, 2005. One flight has been added to accommodate demand earlier in the day with the other giving an additional option in the early afternoon. southwest.jpg

Following Hurricane Katrina, Southwest returned to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Sept. 20, 2005, with two daily roundtrip flights between New Orleans and Houston's Hobby Airport (HOU). That schedule will be boosted by two additional roundtrips each day.

Southwest's schedule from New Orleans on Oct. 17 will be:
*(new) 9:05 a.m. from New Orleans - Arriving in Houston at 10:10 a.m.
     *11:50 a.m. from New Orleans - Arriving in Houston at 12:55 p.m.
*(new) 2:35 p.m. from New Orleans - Arriving in Houston at 3:40 p.m.
     *5:20 p.m. from New Orleans - Arriving in Houston at 6:25 p.m.

Schedule to New Orleans:
*(new) 7:45 a.m. departure from Houston - Arriving in New Orleans at 8:45 a.m.
*10:30 a.m. departure from Houston - Arriving in New Orleans at 11:30 a.m.
*(new) 1:15 p.m. departure from Houston - Arriving in New Orleans at 2:15 p.m.
*4:00 p.m. departure from Houston - Arriving in New Orleans at 5:00 p.m.

"We have a long history of responding to passenger demand with added flights affording reliable, dependable, low fare air service," said Colleen Barrett, President of Southwest Airlines. "We take pride in the knowledge that we will, as always, be a Good Neighbor to our good friends in New Orleans, and we look forward to growing incrementally with them and being part of the city's rebirth."

Since commercial air service to the city will be limited for some time, Southwest has initially focused its service into Houston Hobby where Southwest has a significant presence with a wide range of destinations for its New Orleans Customers.
