Tactile 3D’s unique navigation system allows users to control the placement of their files, folders, and drives in an immersive 3D environment. Visual and audible cues provide key information such as modification time, type, size, and content.
Tristan Grimmer, technical director for the project, explains: “Tactile 3D capitalizes on people’s innate ability to recall the location of large numbers of stationary objects. By allowing users to customize file placement in a 3D space, the need to remember long path and file names is reduced. Tactile 3D preserves directory structure and will update in real-time when things change.”
Upper Bounds is pleased to offer Tactile 3D for download and evaluation to end users. The evaluation version ships with “Orbis,” a clean minimalistic theme. Additional themes are under development for authorized users. Screen shots, design goals, and the software itself are available from http://www.tactile3d.com.
