RMS Teams with Colleyville, Texas Police to Help Seniors, Crime Victims by Collecting and Distributing 911 Cell Phones
Funds will be raised and free emergency 911 cell phones will be provided through RMS’ 911CellPhoneBank.com program.
Ocala, FL (PRWEB) October 13, 2005 -- RMS Communications Group Inc., a leading recycler and re-marketer of old cell phones, said today it is partnering with the Colleyville, Texas Police Department to raise funds and provide free emergency cell phones for local crime victims and senior citizens.
Under the agreement, the department will collect used cell phones in the community which will be turned over to RMS for re-marketing through the company’s 911 Cell Phone Bank program, which operates via a website, www.911CellPhoneBank.com
In return, RMS will provide the department with 911 phones as well as cash, which will be used to fund various emergency and community service needs.
Residents who have unused cell phones are encouraged to drop them off at various police offices and collection points. Locations can be found calling Bill Hudgins in the Community Services office at 817-503-1230.
“We have already collected about 100 phones,” Hudgins said.
Hudgins noted that the Colleyville Police Department and other Tarrant County Law Enforcement Agencies collect the phones on behalf of the SALT Council of Tarrant County, a 501(c)3 charity organization which assists senior citizens in avoiding crime victimization. The SALT Council presents conferences to educate seniors about scams, cons, frauds and other illegal activities.
“All monies collected through the 911 cell phone program go to SALT for their fraud conferences,” Hudgins said.
James Mosieur, chief executive officer of RMS Communications Group Inc., said law enforcement agencies around the country are signing up to participate in the 911 Cell Phone Bank program.
