ARTV Awards Nominated Artist McKenzie Donates Proceeds of Painting to Katrina Victims

ARTV Nominated Artist McKenzie donates proceeds of her newest painting to Katrina Hurricane victims.

(PRWEB) October 14, 2005 -- McKenzie, whose remarkable artistic career is being singled out with a nomination as “Best Mixed Media Artist” in the Premiere 2005 ARTV Awards has generously donated the proceeds from her newest painting “Katrina” to the victims of the Hurricane through the Red Cross.

McKenzie says, “I am devastated for the people impacted by the recent hurricane. I expressed my sorrow through this oil painting of the Storm. I envisioned the hurricane viewed from space...and then I saw it transforming… ground level into water... enveloping the coast. I am donating the proceeds of this artwork to help the victims.”

McKenzie’s original paintings sell for between $5,000-$12,000 and have soared in value and demand due to her ARTV Awards Nomination and her wide-spread artistic appeal. The “Katrina” painting has been made available as a giclee’ and a limited archival print. A percentage of the sales generated from both will also be donated.

“Our job as artists is to experience (mostly emotions) and mold our feelings into the unique language of art. I feel successful when I have called forth any kind of emotional response in my viewer.” Says McKenzie.

McKenzie is a pioneer in organic abstraction, labeled the first artist to use “alluvious chromatism” (Flowing Intense Colors). At the core of all her work is a spiritual bonding to nature. Her mixed media works radiate with energy and intensity. A unique style which has contributed to her National Nomination.

The First Annual Fine Art Awards (ARTV) will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada in the Premier Ballroom of the MGM Grand the weekend of October 28th and 29th. The awards ceremony will have celebrity presenters and will be awarding artists in thirteen categories including oils, acrylics, watercolor, muralists, glass, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, new movement/media, public art installation, group project, and Artist of the Year. The show will be taped for a future televised airing.
