P+S Technik PRO35 Digital Image Converter Used in the Filming of 'Stella' Featured on Comedy Central

PRO35 allows 35mm film lenses to be used on digital video cameras and expands the creative options for DV shooters.

MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ (PRWEB) October 14, 2005 -- When Harlan Bosmajian, Director of Photography for Stella, a Comedy Central program satirizing everyday experiences -- like finding an apartment, hanging out at a coffee shop, going camping or trying to meet women -- selected the P+S Technik PRO35 Digital Image Converter, it allowed him to dramatically expand the look, definition and potential use of video.

The P+S Technik PRO35 Digital Image Converter gives digital video cameras the ability to capture the same format, depth-of-field, focal length and angle of view as a 35mm motion picture camera, providing close to film quality without the cost associated with film. No longer restricted by a limited number of video lens options, a video filmmaker can now get creative with hundreds of lens choices that were previously the exclusive realm of 35mm filmmakers. This was true in the making of Stella, featuring the comedic trio of Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter and David Wain, as three characters whose travels through everyday life are unlike anything else on television. What are common, normal situations for most people quickly end up in the most unexpected realms when these three are at the helm.

“So many people have thought that 'Stella' was shot on film,” notes Harlan Bosmajian, Director of Photography. “Nothing says film more than depth of field. In my opinion it is the depth of field that gives film its magical quality. Like the way human vision works, depth of field isolates the viewer’s attention on what is important in the shot. Without the filmic depth of field, we lose that part of filmmaking that subconsciously connects the medium with being human. If you don’t have the built in depth of field that the PRO35 provides, you have to create layers of depth through lighting which takes more time, crew and money that is often not available."

"I have shot many projects with the P+S Technik Pro35 and every time people are unsure whether they are looking at film or video. The PRO35 has undoubtedly helped my career by allowing me to create beautiful images on video," concluded Bosmajian.

The P+S Technik PRO35 Digital Image Converter allows camera operators and DPs to attach any Arri PL, Panavision, Canon or Nikon mounted 35mm format film lens to 2/3” format SD or HD video cameras, dramatically enhancing creativity, allowing creation of a close to film look and bringing an vast selection of film lenses to the hands of the DP.
