As a capital crimes defense attorney for the State of Florida, author Ray Dix lived in the high-stakes world of providing the last line of defense for men and women sentenced to die.
Attorney Dix has written more than just a great legal thriller, more than just a mystery novel. Dix’s two-time award winning novel, "Death Row Defender," opens reader’s eyes to what goes on behind the scenes in a murder trial and how easily an innocent man can be convicted and sentenced to death. Along the way, Dix delivers a great read with a taste of Florida and characters that come alive.
Hard Shell Word Factory is proud to announce the release of Ray Dix’s debut novel, "Death Row Defender." In "Death Row Defender," a man who swears he is innocent faces execution in Florida's electric chair. Retired Public Defender, Woody Thomas, struggles with his doubts of the man's innocence, the police, the system, an assassin, and his own past to save his client.
Ray Dix served in the Army Security Agency, and in the Coast Guard reserves. He taught computer programming and electronics, repaired computers and copiers, and designed and built boats on the Chesapeake Bay. As an attorney Mr. Dix worked as an Assistant Public Defender, where he tried juvenile, misdemeanor and felony cases, and wrote several hundred appeals. As an Assistant Capital Collateral Representative in Tallahassee, he reinvestigated murder convictions and wrote portions of 12 death row appeals. Mr. Dix lives in Florida, where he enjoys beaches, sunsets and sailing. He is currently writing the next Woody Thomas Novel.
