BRYN MAWR, PA (PRWEB) October 17, 2005

The American College, the nation’s leading financial services educator, announced today that their Alumni Magazine will now be available as a podcast on Apple’s iTunes.

The Alumni Magazine is a product of The American College and, according to Russ Figueira, Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations, is one of the major ways they communicate with their alumni.

Stories have included interviews with David M. Walker, Comptroller General of the United States, who recently spoke at The College as part of the institution’s 28th annual Frank M. Engle Lecture series. Other stories in the Alumni Magazine have addressed new educational programs and initiatives. Recent examples include segments about The College’s new Financial Services Specialist (FSS) designation, the Master of Science (MSM) with an emphasis in leadership degree and The College’s upcoming commencement in Cancun, Mexico.

“This is a great vehicle to promote the engagement and involvement of our graduates,” said Figueira, “This audio presentation and our website allow us to communicate effectively with our 150,000 alumni worldwide.”

The new podcast format allows anyone interested in the audio presentation to download it or listen directly over the Internet. It is also possible to subscribe to podcasts through iTunes and automatically download the latest installment of the Alumni Magazine as it becomes available.

“This makes listening to the latest version of the Alumni Magazine convenient for our alumni,” said Carlos Medrano, Vice President of Information Technology at The American College. “This new format allows us to communicate with our members without the limitations of direct mail or the need for CD players.”

Older versions of the Alumni Magazine will eventually become available for download by listeners interested in hearing archived presentations. Downloading the iTunes player is free, as is the subscription to the Alumni Magazine.

The iTunes player can be downloaded to any PC, either Windows or Mac based. Podcasts can also be directly downloaded to any Mac iPod. In order to download the iTunes player, go to www.apple.com/itunes and click on podcasts. If the player is not installed, you will be directed to a web page where you will be able to download it.

Once the iTunes player is downloaded; open it, click on ‘podcasts’ and type ‘American College’ in the search field. You will be able to both download the Alumni Magazine and subscribe to it.

The American College is the nation’s leading non-profit educator of professionals in the insurance and financial services industry. Located on a 35-acre campus in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, The College is a public charity that serves over 35,000 students annually, predominantly on a distance education basis. The American College offers an array of specialized designation programs, Master of Science degrees in several disciplines and customized continuing education programs for those pursuing a career in financial services.
