Angels In the Outfield, But Whose Outfield?
Angels have been a source of comfort, love and endearing figures throughout history. Mexico’s celebration of Dia de los Angelitos, Dia de los Muertos reminds us to celebrate both life and death. Agave Galleria provides a unique collection of angels from a variety of cultures; hand-crafted, culturally and historically rich.
Phoenix, Ariz. (PRWEB) October 16, 2005 -- Angels - The subject of Angels is the name of the game; not only in the baseball play offs but throughout history and throughout cultures.
Agave Galleria owner, Cathy Martinez says, “Angels are wonderful reminders of a lighter side of life. Growing up, many times we may have been told to listen to the angel on our shoulders or to trust that our guardian angel is there to help us stay safe or through difficult times. Advocate groups for social consciousness, protection and health and well-being many times have the word “angel” in their description.
As a term of love, of endearment, of protection and of hope, angels are a part of many of our lives.” The word angel itself is derived from the Greek word, “angelos” which itself, may be a translation of the Hebrew word mal'akh, meaning 'messenger'... and there you go.
A form of a living being with wings can be seen throughout history in most every major culture. For instance; "In Mexico, All Saints' Day celebrated on November 1st, is devoted to los Angelitos. Simply translated, los Angelitos means "the little angels". These are children who have passed before us. November 2nd, Dia de los Muertos or is the Day of the Dead. Both days calls for happy, all day picnics beside the graves of dead relatives. Often you will find people at home, assembling little altars called "ofrendas". They "ofrendas" will be stocked with the departed loved ones favorite foods and drinks, their photos, and other memories, as well as candles and pungent marigolds, a flower long associated with death. It is a happy time of remembering. This is a foreign concept to those not of this culture." said co-owner, Rudy Martinez
So, how does that fit with the angels; the beautiful winged creatures that grace our lives. Everything! Angels have always been thought of as messengers. Where ever they come from, where ever they go to or who ever they are and however long we know them, each of us may have or will know someone that graces our soul.
In celebration of angels and the celebration of Dia de los Angelitos, Agave Galleria has assembled a unique collection of angels to share.
