Fashion Model Elevates "EcoStyle" in the Bay Area

Summer Rayne Oakes' trendsetting work in fashion, sustainability and education first brought her to the Bay Area in June for World Environment Day. Now she returns to the area that stole her heart to present her stylish eco-conscious initiatives at San Francisco International Fashion Week.

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 19, 2005

Summer Rayne Oakes can't get enough of the Bay Area lately. The New York-based model and rising sustainable style icon visited for the first time this past June during World Environment Day and hasn't stopped coming back. Though the Ivy League-educated, Catherine Zeta-esque beauty was seen on the runway and helping out backstage at Wildlife Work's WED runway show, (attended by notables Al Gore, Jerry Brown, and Rosario Dawson), Oakes principally came to help coordinate youth events throughout San Francisco, Oakland, and outlying areas.

"The Bay Area stole my heart," Oakes proclaims. "The energy and consciousness here is intoxicating. When I left in June, all I could think about was when I would be able to return."

It seems as if the socially-conscious stunner will get her wish very soon. Oakes has been invited to give a workshop on sustainability and fashion during San Francisco International Fashion Week on October 22nd.

Before her visit to the Bay Area, Summer Rayne will have already made stop offs in Paris and Los Angeles for appearances for designers in the Ethical Fashion Show and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, respectively. The day prior to her presentation, she will assist the Sustainable Cotton Project on a Fresno farm tour with members of the Gap, Levis, and other large apparel players.

Her workshop entitled, "How Sustainability Slipped into Bed with Fashion" promises to be enlightening, upbeat, and outright fun. What else can workshop attendees expect?

"Expect the presentation to be high energy," comments Brendan Lavin, Oakes’ Associate Publicist. "She prefers spontaneity and will work with what the audience gives her. She is skilled at painting a global perspective, but offering small-step solutions in a light-hearted manner. She'll definitely talk about her own work, draw on her recent experiences in Paris and the local farm tour, and let the audience know what's ahead."

"I’m looking forward to revving up the audience. Eco-consciousness coupled with fashion is an energizing topic and a concept that the Bay Area can really own," says Oakes.
