(PRWEB) October 23, 2005 -- Silanis Technology, the industry’s most experienced electronic signature provider with more than two million users and consumers in business and government, announced today that Tommy Petrogiannis, will co-present with Steve Timchak, of the General Services Administration (GSA), at the upcoming 2005 Federal Information Assurance Conference in Washington, D.C. The session, “E-Authentication”, scheduled for October 25, 2005 at 11:15 AM, is part of the track on leveraging technology to bridge the security gap.

Timchak leads the President's Management Agenda E-Authentication initiative that is building a trusted network of credential issuers, (user IDs, pins and passwords), including other government agencies and commercial entities. The goal of the E-Authentication effort is to deliver a service that enables easier access to online government services for citizens and business.

Timchak will provide an inside look at the strategic, technical, operational, policy and governance aspects of the E-Authentication initiative, and illustrate how the Federal Government is leveraging technology to transform its delivery of government services to citizens and businesses.

Silanis’ electronic signature solution is part of the GSA’s online eOffer platform, designed to manage new contract offers and GSA schedule modifications for its 13,000 vendors. The website enables contractors to complete applications and modifications over the web, capturing electronic approvals through the web-browser using process signature technology.

Approvals are the key to moving businesses forward. They provide evidence of the decision making process and ensure accountability. Automating approval processes with electronic signatures eliminates the inefficiencies of paper and streamlines the transmission, review and signing of documents. At the same time, it ensures reliable and auditable business records required to demonstrate compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards and organizational policies.

In this session, Petrogiannis will present the key elements that make electronic approvals more secure than their paper counterparts. Participants will learn how features like tamper detection, data and time stamping, and workflow rules work behind the scene to ensure security.
