Just launched: The Swans of Stanley Park, an Educational Web Site About Mute Swans

stanley-park-swans.com is a new site full of resources and beautiful pictures about the mute swans of Stanley Park, Canada. For tourists to Stanley Park, ESL students (reading quizzes) and people interested in swans worldwide

(PRWEB) October 22, 2005 -- A group of volunteers of Vancouver, Canada is happy to announce the launch of their new web site about the swans of Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park. Called The Swans of Stanley Park, at http://www.stanley-park-swans.com/, this site provides personalized information about each swan of the Lagoon and swans in general. The site is available to tourists, students and people interested in swans worldwide.

The site has a page, with pictures, about the history of each swan, a Swan Fact page, a Swan Problem page, a Swan Quiz to test your knowledge of swans and a "How to treat swans" page.

In addition, the site has a gallery of some 200 beautiful pictures of swans and Lost Lagoon, and links to over 40 other swan sites worldwide.

What differentiates this site from other swan sites is the six message boards where site visitors are welcome to post their messages:
1- Breaking news about swans (not unlike people, swans have "affairs", they get sick, they lose their loved ones, they raise kids, they gain and they lose domination of the Lagoon, etc);
2- Ask the Specialists, a board that allows site visitors to get advice about swans and their environments from the best swan specialists in the world;
3- Alert board, where visitors to Lost Lagoon are welcome to post messages about threats to the welfare of the swans;
4- Discussion Forum;
5- Classifieds; and
6- Events where associations and agencies are welcome to advertise their oncoming events/meetings.
All these services are free.

And finally, the site has 8 reading quizzes for students of English/English as a Second Language (ESL) where students are evaluated online about their understanding of each article.

We welcome visitors worldwide to upload pictures of 'their' swans to our Photo Gallery and to send us swans stories.
