An international study of 665 people from a broad range of professions and jobs shows that emotional intelligence can predict over 54% of success in four key areas. The findings add to the growing body of evidence that emotional intelligence (EQ) is a critical success factor for business, education, and personal life.

Since Daniel Goleman’s book "Emotional Intelligence" became an international best-seller in 1995, people around the world have wondered just how important “EQ” is in their professional and personal lives.

The study found that scores on Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence test, called the “SEI” (see http://www.6seconds.org/sei/) are highly predictive of important aspects of success. Over half of a person’s view of their success -- in terms of Effectiveness, Health, Relationships, and Quality of Life -- is predicted by this emotional intelligence test.

“This study helps us understand how emotional intelligence translates to real-world success,” explains Dr. Anabel Jensen, a leading expert on emotional intelligence and professor of education. “People and organizations around the world are curious about emotional intelligence – now we know why it’s worth investing time and resources to develop these important life skills,” Jensen concluded.

A White Paper summarizing the findings from the international study is available from Six Seconds online (http://www.6seconds.org/sei/eq_success.php). The analysis includes 665 participants from many work sectors and roles from college students to CEOs.

These findings make the Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence Test (SEI – which also means “six” in Italian)one of the strongest measures of emotional intelligence available in the market today. SEI features the most comprehensive report of any emotional intelligence test with many practical strategies for performance improvement. The test has strong psychometric properties, including two self-correcting indices to increase objectivity.

SEI was developed and researched in Europe and has been validated in North America and Asia. It is the only test of Six Seconds practical and actionable model of emotional intelligence. For more information, see http://www.6seconds.org/sei/ .
