The Lake Home & Cabin Show™, a unique consumer show that showcases the lifestyle of lake home and seasonal cabin living, is coming back to two Midwest markets in April, 2006.
The show begins in the Twin Cities at the Minneapolis Convention Center, running Friday through Sunday, April 21 through 23. The next weekend the show travels to Milwaukee and opens at the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park, running Friday through Sunday, April 28 through 30.
According to Dave Greer, owner of Porchlight Productions LLC™, the Minneapolis-based consumer show management company producing the show, the Lake Home & Cabin Show fills a niche in the consumer show market.
“You’d be hard-pressed to talk to any Minnesota or Wisconsin native who doesn’t have a fond memory of spending time at a lake home or cabin,” Greer said. “They grew up going to the cabin and now they’re passing this lifestyle on to their children and grandchildren. No other show directly reaches the thousands of seasonal home owners in Minnesota or Wisconsin, or the countless others who either dream of a second home or want to decorate their existing home in a northwoods décor.”
Greer said there are more than 120,000 seasonal homes registered in Minnesota and more than 175,000 in Wisconsin – and the number is growing steadily due to a number of reasons.
“The demand for lake homes, cabins and recreational properties in Minnesota and Wisconsin is thriving and this trend shows no end in sight,” he said. “The Midwest’s baby boomers have come of age and they now have the time and financial means to buy, furnish and enjoy second homes. These people are actively planning their retirement futures now by investing in lake homes and cabins.”
In each of the two locations the show will include more than 225 exhibiting companies selling a variety of products and services for the lake home and cabin markets. The show is marketed to companies selling interior and exterior furnishings and products; real estate and finance; builders, remodelers and architects; sporting gear and outdoor equipment; bird and wildlife feeding and viewing equipment; landscaping and lakeshore products; specialty products, services and publications; and other lake and cabin services.
“When a lake home or cabin is bought or changes family hands typically the new owners have definite ideas about personalizing their ‘new’ property, but often times they’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start,” Greer said. “That’s really at the soul of the Lake Home & Cabin Show – to blend the allure of the get-away, second-home lifestyle into a focused event so the customers can meet the businesses – and have a great time doing it!”
A distinctive element of the Lake Home & Cabin Show is its interactive features, displays and presentations that involve and engage the consumers coming to the show. For example, the “Nikon Observation Deck,” an elevated platform above the show floor is a special feature where the experts from Nikon Sport Optics teach people how to use and select binoculars and spotting scopes. And, the “Cabin Life Stage,” presented by Cabin Life Magazine features entertaining and educational seminars on a variety of topics.
“From the moment they walk through the show entrance they’ll know they’re about to enjoy something special.” Greer said. “We’re going to stimulate their senses and make their visit a memorable experience. We’re not just another walk-down-the-aisle show. We’re about a lifestyle.”
Show hours in both locations are: Friday – 2 to 9 p.m.; Saturday – 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $4 for youth ages 5 to 15 and under five – free.
