After learning that United States soldiers are having a hard time keeping fit while fighting overseas, Sunrise business Fitness 21 is answering the call for help.

"Fitness for Freedom" will take place from 8am to 1pm, rain or shine, on November 19, 2005 at Fitness 21. The gym will present their Corporate Fitness Challenge, a competition among employees of local corporations currently being invited to enlist in the contest. Employees of local corporations including Total Nutrition, Coldwell Banker, and Rick Case Honda have already enlisted! A donation of $500 for up to 10 employees per company will entitle those employees to participate in the challenge on November 19th. All employees of the first six corporations to commit to the challenge will be entitled to memberships at Fitness 21 up to November 19th. The competition will consist of an obstacle and individual physical challenges measuring flexibility, endurance and strength. Points will also be accumulated for the number of times team members use Fitness 21 to train leading up to the competition. The winning team will be determined by maximum collective points per team.

The Corporate Fitness Challenge is also taking place at the Institute of Human Performance in Boca Raton. All funds raised from the Corporate Fitness Challenge will be used to purchase portable fitness equipment including balls, bands and dumbbells and will be sent to military men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“While we are not taking sides politically, Fitness 21 wants to support our men and women who are helping to keep America safe. The least we can do is help them stay strong and healthy,” said Phil Kaplan, co-owner. “We thought helping people get fit here in the United States while at the same time helping the troops was something that would benefit everyone.”

This military-themed event will offer free food, drinks and tours of the gym. A raffle with great prizes will be featured, and Sassy the Clown will make balloons and do face painting for the kids. An inflatable obstacle course for kids ages 5 and older (smaller children may need assistance) will be available for a charge of .50 to raise even more money for the troops. Anyone who joins Fitness 21 on November 19th will get a special membership rate of 21 days for $21.00.

Fitness 21 is located at 15451 SW 13th Lane, Sunrise, Florida. To participate in the Corporate Challenge, contact Pam at 954-915-0080 or visit http://www.fitness21.com.
