Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 24, 2005 -- Pastoral care professionals now have access to a unique new resource, http://tpcrc.org, The Pastoral Care Resource Center.
The goal of The Pastoral Care Resource Center is to provide a comprehensive and easy to use repository of information geared towards the professional pastoral care practitioner. TPCRC.org utilizes a database-driven content management system that is fully searchable. Not only are pastoral care professionals able to browse or search for pertinent information, they are also able to share their valuable insights and resources with the rest of the professional community.
Father Michael Callahan, creator of this resource tool, is a parish priest with the American Old Catholic Church. In the late 90’s Father Michael attended a seminar by Rev. Richard Gilbert, PhD., on grieving children. Since that time Fr. Michael has discovered a heart for grief and bereavement ministry.
Rev. Gilbert, in addition to being an accomplished writer, and lecturer in this field, is director of chaplaincy services at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. Rev. Gilbert is also founder of the World Pastoral Care Center. Rev. Gilbert has been distributing his pastoral care bibliographies and “Resources Hotline” for several years via email.
“Initially this website was intended to be a repository for Rev. Gilbert’s extensive library of pastoral care bibliographies, and other pastoral care resources of the World Pastoral Care Center,” states Father Michael. “Subsequently, during my research,” says Father Michael, “I discovered that there were very few pastoral care resources that encompassed multiple pastoral care disciplines.” The goal of The Pastoral Care Resource Center will only be realized if others in the Pastoral Care community participate and share their own professional findings.
Bereavement, grief and loss are part and parcle of the pastoral care ministry; whether you are a hospital or hospice chaplain or ministering in a local church community, you will find useful information in support of your ministry. This website is intended to be a multi-faith and inter-denominational resource.
