Neil Kohanski Earns Honorable Mention In IPA Competition

After working in the photography industry for four years, Neil Kohanski of Los Angeles, California was awarded an Honorable Mention in the International Photography Awards 2005 competition.

Neil Kohanski first attended Rhode Island College as a marketing major and soon found the world of photography. He has worked in the industry primarily for the last four years, printing and photographing traditional Black and White images for a custom print house in Pasadena, CA. Neil has been working on a series of photographs since early 2004 depicting flesh suspension as art. In July '05 Neil entered three of these images into his first competition which happened to be the IPA 2005. One of the images was awarded an Honorable Mention in the People category, Lifestyle.

Neil has assisted photographers such as Tiff Pemberton, Art Minds, and Lissa Hahn etc. In August '05 Neil was part of a group show titled 'AMERICA' at the Mendenhall Sobiesky Gallery in Pasadena, CA. His piece 'Fear Trade' was the only photographic piece in the show and commanded attention. Neil is currently showing images from his suspension series at an underground gallery in Hollywood, CA. Rosemary's Billygoat until Nov. 1st 2005.
