Breast Cancer Awareness Month Honored by Healthsearches and B, The Magazine on Breast Health & Women's Wellness

Innovative women's health magazine & health education Web site offer subscription-based donation to breast cancer patient advocacy & cancer research.

Ketchum, ID (PRWEB) October 25, 2005 -- Healthsearches, the women's health educational Web site (www.healthsearches.org) announced that half of the subscription price of all annual subscriptions to B, The Magazine on Breast Health & Women's Wellness, that are purchased during October, 2005, will be donated to support breast cancer patient advocacy and cancer research sponsored by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The donation honors October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

According to Tilden Sokoloff, M.D., Healthsearches' President and co-founder, "Many women (including many Hispanic, black, and white women in the United States and abroad) do not perform regular breast self-examinations or undergo regular mammography, both of which are essential to maintain breast health. The Healthsearches Web site and B were created to increase awareness of women's health issues and to educate, engage, and empower women in participating in their own healthcare."

Our Web site utilizes an extensive Question and Answer (Q&A) format, which is an effective way for women to understand and learn about improving their health.
A unique feature of B and the Healthsearches Web site is their focus on both contemporary mainstream and integrative medical approaches to breast health, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, and women's health. "Many women intuitively sense that there are healthy ways of healing themselves," added Dr. Sokoloff. "However, some women who are interested in supplementing their healthcare with complementary medical approaches may be reluctant to ask their mainstream physicians about alternative medicine. To provide a user-friendly, comprehensive source of helpful health information, Healthsearches developed B and the novel Web site for optimizing women's wellness."

The intriguing articles in B, an online color magazine, include:

  • Interpretations of new findings on breast health, breast cancer, and women's wellness
  • Commentary on standard, experimental, alternative, and integrative medical approaches to prevent, screen, diagnose, and treat breast cancer and other illnesses of women
  • Controversial issues (e.g., hormone replacement therapy and alternatives, nutrition, supplements, and botanical medicine) in women's health
  • Alternative and integrative medical approaches for overall well-being of body, mind, and spirit

Subscriptions to B may be ordered online at the Healthsearches Web site. Subscribers receive B by email and can access all articles of each issue of B online.

Kiril Sokoloff, co-founder of Healthsearches and well-known publisher, said, "Our Web site utilizes an extensive Question and Answer (Q&A) format, which is an effective way for women to understand and learn about improving their health. "The novel Q&A format of the Healthsearches Web site makes it easy to find medical information on breast health and breast cancer that is presented in an understandable and interesting way.

Users of the Healthsearches Web site can find health information by using any of the following three, simple methods. The Q&A section allows users to scan an index of topic categories for the specific Q&As they desire. The search function allows users to enter key words and phrases to search the Q&A collection of information. The "Ask Us A Question" section allows users to email a question that was not covered in the Q&A library.

Due to Healthsearches' editorial and financial independence from outside commercial interests, the organization is able to provide the public with an objective view on a wide range of medical and lifestyle approaches to women's health and wellness for women and men.
