The Hockey Source and Pete Friesen, head trainer and conditioning coach of the Carolina Hurricanes will share thier expertise to the position and field of team trainer in minor and youth hockey.

Markham, Ontario (PRWEB) October 26, 2005 -- Canadian author Kevin V. Huhn, host of the television series, The Hockey Source -The Ultimate Resource for Minor Hockey (THS), is pleased to welcome Pete Friesen, head trainer and conditioning coach of the Carolina Hurricanes to the panel of Subject Matter Experts. Pete, who has worked with many of Canada’s national sport teams and world-class athletes, will bring his expertise to the position and field of team trainer in minor hockey.

“[I’m always looking to support the youth sports and contributing to The Hockey Source will strengthen the support to people who are team trainers and want to become team trainers in hockey,” said Mr. Friesen, who holds a Bachelors degree from Bemidji State University (MN) and a Masters from the University of Saskatchewan.

“This is one role in sports and specifically to hockey that we can’t take for granted,” stated Kevin Huhn, “making hockey safe requires the right people with the right training.”

In addition to his work with professional hockey, Friesen has been associated with the Canadian Olympic and International programs for the last 23 seasons. His responsibility includes the institution of training and dietary standards, preparation of rehabilitation programs and treatment of acute injuries. He was also instrumental in developing the national trainer’s program for Hockey Canada.

Along with his knowledge in hockey, the newly appointed SME brings international experience with athletes in field hockey, soccer, figure skating, softball, wrestling, gymnastics, and volleyball. Pete also consults with two companies Goalerone and Amino-Vital to aid in the development of young athletes and is a volunteer to his son’s hockey teams.

The Hockey Source television show is on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. (ET) on NHL Network and at 2:00 p.m. (ET) Sundays on FOX Sports Net New England. The Hockey Source Website can be found at www.thehockeysource.tv. Together they provide people with valuable information about minor hockey so that they can make sound decisions and have more fun.

The Hockey Source is a production of Fire ’n Idea Inc., a privately-owned Canadian corporation. The NHL Network is a digital network in Canada and is partially owned by Bell Globemedia, Insight Sports and the NHL.
