Optoderma Psoriatic Care Products Find Acceptance Amongst the Skeptics

Budapest - Warburg (PRWEB) October 28, 2005 -- It took more than two years to convince many long-term psoriasis patients concerning the effectiveness of the Optoderma psoriatic skin care products. Today, we are past that phase.
“Alternative and or natural therapies are generally received with great cynicism,” says Doctor Attila Feleki, MD, clinical trial and research director of the Budapest-based, German–Hungarian Optoderma Research and Production Company. “This is understandable,” he continues. “Today, patients decide for themselves about the efficacy of our products, no matter what we tell them. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.”
Most long-term psoriasis patients are deeply disappointed after undergoing a medication marathon that generally lasts many years. They try a wide variety of pills, ointments, injections and treatments or therapies, without lasting results. “People have reason to be skeptical about new products,” says Dr. Feleki. “The mental and physical suffering of a psoriasis patient and the disappointment that almost all of them go through makes it clear why new skin-care products are received with such cool enthusiasm and hesitation.”
The initial diagnosis of Psoriasis, in one of its many forms, is often the last clear answer given a psoriasis patient by the doctors. Diagnosis is usually followed by a long routine, with the patient going from doctor-to-doctor, from hospital-to-clinic, from herbalist-to-dietician, and often also to the psychotherapist. The unfortunate fact is that psoriasis treatments are usually quite stressful and part of an often costly journey without lasting results.
Disappointed from the resolution of their skin problems, patients often take matters into their own hands. They avidly collect information from the Internet, join peer groups and obtain advice from assorted self-help groups, all in an effort to find something that helps alleviate the worst of the skin symptoms of psoriasis, like itching, desquamation and skin irritation.
Following the successful clinical testing and the launch of the Cellular Memorizer Lotion and Cream in 2004, the Optoderma staff conducted a considerable number of panel discussions with psoriasis sufferers, under the expert guidance of consumer-profilers and marketers. The biggest challenge faced by Optoderma was to overcome the strong skepticism of the long-term psoriasis patient concerning new treatments and products. Most long-term sufferers had an ‘I’ve been there, done that and nothing works’ attitude. As a result, they were generally reluctant to take part in dermatologist-supervised clinical trials, despite the very promising earlier test results and the easy application of the product. Today however, the initial suspicion and reluctance has been replaced by a spirit of cautious anticipation. Thus, thousands of psoriasis patients are eagerly awaiting the official launch of the hypoallergenic Optoderma Cellular Memorizer Scalp Gel, scheduled for 29 October 2005, World Psoriasis Day.
“The biggest supporters of the Optoderma skin-care product line are the many satisfied and symptom-free psoriasis patients. Also a growing number of open-minded physicians and Self Help Group leaders, all acknowledge the value of our highly effective hypoallergenic product range. With a positive attitude and a little bit of self-discipline of the patient, we can do a whole lot to improve the quality of life," according to Dr. Feleki.
