Kidney Cancer Association Announces 'ACOR Challenge'
KCA makes lead gift to online fundraiser to support email lists for cancer patients and survivors.
(PRWEB) October 28, 2005 -- The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA), a suburban Chicago charity, today announced the "ACOR Thanksgiving Challenge," an online fundraiser for the benefit of the Association of Online Cancer Resources (ACOR).
KCA chief executive officer Bill Bro said, "We're pleased to make the lead gift to the Challenge because we know how valuable the ACOR email lists are to families who are battling cancer."
ACOR is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, incorporated in New York State. The heart of ACOR is a large collection of cancer-related Internet mailing lists , which delivered 1,847,431 e-mail messages last week to subscribers. In addition to supporting the mailing lists, ACOR develops and hosts state-of-the-art Internet-based knowledge systems that allow the public to find and use credible information relevant to their illness.
Donations to the Challenge are collected by independent auditors Ahlbeck & Company, Certified Public Accountants, of Des Plaines, Ill. The Challenge closes the day prior to the 2005 Thanksgiving holiday, after which the auditors will tally collected funds and remit them to ACOR.
"Cancer patients and their families are thankful for the valuable help that the ACOR email lists provide to thousands of people whose lives are affected by diseases," Bro said. "The challenge affords us an opportunity to express our gratitude to ACOR for its good work."
The Kidney Cancer Association was formed in 1990 by a small group of patients and their physician. It has grown to serve more than 71-thousand people in the United States and more than 100 other countries.
