Stone’s Get on the Green is a contemporary version of bowls designed to cater for the groundswell of younger people that have been attracted to the sport in recent times.
The program allows newcomers to bowls -- as well as those who already have some experience -- to enjoy the sport in a casual and relaxed environment where the emphasis is on the social aspects of the game.
“We are very pleased to have been selected to stage the Stone’s Get on the Green program this summer. Each session promises to be loads of fun and we are really looking forward to welcoming a lot of new people to the club,” said Sunshine’s club president Chris Thomas.
Bowls has enjoyed a great surge in popularity in recent times -- particularly with young people -- and the Stone’s Get on the Green program will see that trend continue.
“The program is designed to meet the demands of the new generation of bowlers who simply want to enjoy the sport in a light-hearted social atmosphere where the focus is on having fun with your friends rather than serious competition.” Chris adds.
Commencing Nov 2, 2005, the program will be start every Wednesday and Friday evening at 6:30pm. The program costs just $5.00 per week, with weekly prizes to be won. Participants will also receive a great Stone’s Get on the Green welcome pack.
The club supplies all of the equipment so participants simply need to roll-up wearing casual clothes and flat-soled shoes. Coaching tips are also provided for those who need a little assistance to get started.
