University of Chicago Women’s Business Group Provides Forum to Link Professional Women and Non-Profit Boards
Linking Professionals to Nonprofit Boards, a networking event held on November 17, 2005 by the University of Chicago Women's Business Group, will provide a forum to connect business professionals interested in board service to over 50 nonprofit organizations seeking board members.
Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) October 29, 2005 -- For the 5th year, The University of Chicago Women’s Business Group will provide a forum to introduce business professionals to over 50 not-for-profit groups seeking board members.
The forums have provided successful introductions to a wide variety of non-profit organizations for business people seeking to strengthen the community while enhancing their value to their organizations, increasing their leadership effectiveness, and expanding their networks.
Pamela Strobel, former Exelon EVP & Chief Administrative Officer and President of Exelon Business Services Company, will share her keys to success and strategies for impactful board service during a keynote address.
Strobel serves on the board of trustees of Rush University Medical Center, Ravinia Festival Association, Joffrey Ballet, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Window to the World Communications and the Mid-Day Club. She also serves on the boards of State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company and Sabre Holdings Corporation. She has received numerous honors from civic organizations and in 2004 was named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ list of Chicago’s 100 Most Influential Women. She recently announced that she is taking early retirement to devote energy to her family, the corporate and charitable boards with which she is involved, and other community activities.
Before the networking event that introduces potential board members to the participating not-for-profits, three panel discussions will explore aspects of board service.
One panel will focus on the legal and regulatory governance minefields non-profits face post-Sarbanes-Oxley; a second will confront the fear of fundraising; and the third will introduce potential board members to the expectations, responsibilities and rewards in a year of board service.
The panel discussions will begin at 4:30 and the registration and networking at 5:30 pm at the Aon Building, 200 East Randolph.
Hewitt Associates is the premier sponsor of this event.
Registration for the event is available on the University of Chicago Women’s Business Group web site – www.ucwbg.org.
