Author Denise Turney to Appear at NAACP Annual Freedom Fund

Saturday, November 5, Denise Turney, author of the books Portia, Love Has Many Faces and Spiral (www.chistell.com), will appear at the NAACP’s Annual Freedom Fund Dinner.

(PRWEB) October 30, 2005 -- Saturday, November 5, Denise Turney, author of the books Portia, Love Has Many Faces and Spiral (www.chistell.com), will appear at the NAACP’s Annual Freedom Fund Dinner. The event will be held at the Bucks County Sheraton in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

Turney will sign her books at the event which also features Martha Miller, a staunch community supporter for more than two decades. Martha Miller, member of Norton Avenue First Baptist Church in Bristol, Pennsylvania, will be presented with a Community Achievement Award during the dinner.

Turney and Miller are founding members of Bucks County Pennsylvania’s first African American owned and operated drug and alcohol prevention program. “There are a rainbow of ways to support those in need, encourage those building on their dreams and continuously help one another continue to heal,” states Turney. Beyond volunteering in the community, writing books and articles with impact is a key way I accomplish this. Stories endure. Their effect is far reaching. It is my intent to create stories that provide healing, that allow readers to look deep within, face hard choices and heal.”

Turney’s book Portia (www.chistell.com) has a long history of supporting its readers during the healing process. Now in its fourth printing, the inspirational book has encouraged countless women and their loved ones meeting the challenges of breast cancer. “I wrote Portia at a time in my life when I was fighting a personal battle with tumors. Thanks be to God I came through great! Out of that experience came Portia. The book’s root is a reason I think so many readers comment that the book sounds like someone’s personal, intimate story.”

Free excerpts from Turney’s books can be found online at www.chistell.com.
