Dickey Manufacturing Company Introduces Anti-Theft Device for Semi-Trailers, Recreational Vehicles, and Livestock / Horse Trailers
The Dickey Manufacturing Company announced the release of the new TRAILOKTM anti-theft device on October 26, 2005.
St. Charles, IL (PRWEB) October 30, 2005 -- The Dickey Manufacturing Company announced the release of the new TRAILOKTM anti-theft device on October 26, 2005.
Theft of trailers, whether for the value of the trailer or for the worth of the cargo, has become an estimated 10 billion dollar a year industry within the United States. Trucking companies are looking for an effective means to reduce theft and curb ever increasing insurance rates. Truckers, as well as travelers, often find they are required to leave trailers unattended and then often return to an empty trailer, or worse, a vacant parking stall.
A proven defense to trailer theft has been available since the introduction of the first version of the TRAILOKTM twenty-five years ago. Companies utilizing this high security kingpin lock have never reported a trailer theft with the device in use. The Dickey Manufacturing Company is now introducing an improved version of the TRAILOKTM, offering even greater security features. The latest design incorporates an aluminum insert effectively doubling the resistance to flame cutting of the previous version. The locking mechanism is controlled by the industry standard for high security, an ABLOY® EXEC series key set.
TRAILOKTM also defends against theft attempts that utilize the now common “modified fifth-wheel”. This “modification”, a crime in itself in many areas, increases the opening on the truck allowing a standard lock to act as an “oversized” kingpin and establish a temporary connection. The connection between the truck and trailer is typically enough to steal the trailer and cargo, yet unreliable enough to be a serious safety hazard. The 8” conical body of the TRAILOKTM deters thefts by filling the fifth wheel skid plate apron thereby preventing these temporary connections.
