Dave Baggenstos and Leslie Croot Complete Continental Divide Trail Hike from Canada to Mexico For Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Bellingham, WA

Dave Baggenstos and Leslie Croot completed their long distance hike from Canada to Mexico along the Continental Divide Trail.

(PRWEB) October 30, 2005 -- Dave Baggenstos and Leslie Croot completed their long distance hike from Canada to Mexico along the Continental Divide Trail. The trail is approximately 3,000 miles and loosely follows the geographical divide in the United States. David (Dave's 16 year old son) stopped hiking after about 1,000 miles due to illness and has since made a full recovery.

Dave and Leslie completed the 6 month trek through 5 states, desert heat, high altitudes, animals and wilderness challenges to name a few. The hike was a fundraiser for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County (DVSAS) in Bellingham Washington. People pledged per mile and gave flat donations to DVSAS in exchange for the work of the Baggenstos-Croot team.

By completing this hike Leslie Croot has earned the designation of "Triple Crown". She becomes one of the few to hike all three long national scenic trails including the Appalachian Trail, The Pacific Crest Trail and now the Continental Divide Trail amounting to more than 7,000 miles.

Regarding the hike Leslie Croot said, “The hike was an amazing experience and a wonderful way to explore the country and to challenge ourselves. I feel very fortunate to have hiked as a fundraiser for DVSAS, and would like to especially thank our family, members of our community, and our sponsors who helped make the experience possible.”

About DVSAS
