The "Most Promising Filmmaker" Award Goes to Independent Film Director Bivas Biswas

Out of more than 35 short films that were selected to screen at this years International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival in Tempe, Arizona, the Award for the "Most Promising Filmmaker" was awarded to independent film director Bivas Biswas for his short "APT. 3157."

APT. 3157 is a short psychological thriller that explores the world of Extra Sensory Perception and the perilous end that can come of divulging too much information.

The audience is taken to a world of a woman moving into a new apartment. After hearing and seeing unexplainable things, she is quite certain a murder has happened in her apartment. Unfortunately she has been witnessing her own demise.

The film features the abilities of Deanna Moraga, Tom Blackwood, Kenette Haynes, and Katie McGinley-Colman, a cast that takes the audience from the safety of a kitchen to “seeing” a horrific murder. The creative force of director and producer Bivas Biswas, co-producer Peter King and writer Serena Torres-Webbe bring this supernatural thriller to life.

Jason Carney, Festival director of the Phoenix Film Festival says “Apartment 3157 is a superbly shot film with a nice twist at the end. Bivas Biswas has a very good eye for filmmaking. I look forward to seeing his future projects.”

The film is currently being dubbed in Spanish. DVD of the film will include cast and crew interviews and behind the scenes footage and is planned to be released by the end of this year.

Earlier this year, Bivas Biswas directed the short film First Date which won the award for “Best Film” at the Almost Famous Film Festival.

Besides being a filmmaker, Bivas is a software engineer consulting for the aerospace - defense industry and is currently involved in projects sponsored by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Airforce for designing and developing hardware and software solutions for Future Combat Systems. His aspiration is to direct major motion pictures in the future.
